Gnome Subtitles 1.4 is now available from GNOME Subtitles News

After a way too long hiatus, a new version of Gnome Subtitles is now available, bringing a much needed upgrade to GTK 3.
Ubuntu packages are available in the Gnome Subtitles PPA. For other distros, please check their repository or raise an issue for the packages to be updated.
Other changes in this release include:

Added support for webm and ogv video files, as well as video file extensions in all caps letters.
Show a confirmation when reloading a translation file with unsaved changes
Improvements to Timings Shift/Adjust dialogs, which now remain open when applying changes
Added support for non-standard video framerates, which should now appear correctly in the Timings menu
Fixed a crash when starting the application with a video file passed as parameter
Fixed a bug with subtitle headers not being properly saved
Improved the embedded video playback
Updated GtkSpell to 3.0

Gnome Subtitles 1.3 is out! from GNOME Subtitles News

A new version of Gnome Subtitles is out. Changes include:

Allow to set the gap between subtitles, to be used when inserting or splitting subtitles
Fixed character count when editing text
Multiple subtitle engine fixes:

Fixed parsing and writing (AQTitle, Karaoke Lyrics LRC, MacSUB, MPSub, Panimator, Phoenix Japanimation Society, Sofni, SubCreator 1.x, ViPlay Subtitle File)
Fixed output of deciseconds (SubCreator 1.x)
Removed extra newline in the output (MacSUB, Phoenix Japanimation Society, Panimator)
Fixed bug with multiple lines of text per subtitle (Sofni)

Gnome Subtitles 1.2 from GNOME Subtitles News

Gnome Subtitles 1.2 has been released. This version brings the effort of multiple contributors, enhancing the application with the following features:

Support for merging and splitting subtitle lines
Allow to view character counts in the subtitle list and editing area
Allow to apply a reaction delay when timing start/end on video playblack
Video slow and fast motion options
New shortcuts for quick timings change:

Increase/decrease subtitle start time: Ctrl+Plus/Minus (on the numpad)
Increase/decrease subtitle end time: Alt+Plus/Minus (on the numpad)
Shift subtitles: Shift+Plus/Minus (on the numpad)

Automatically seek the video when subtitle times are changed, with an option to rewind it some milliseconds
Added support for the Fab Subtitler subtitle format
Allow to insert a new subtitle at the current video position, applying a reaction delay if set

Translation filenames are now based on the original filename plus language
Added support for buggy SubRip files that use dots instead of commas

Gnome Subtitles 1.1 is out! from GNOME Subtitles News

I'm proud to announce the immediate availability of version 1.1, a release which features the amazing work of two important contributors: Arx Cruz and Valmir Sena. This includes:

New feature for quickly setting times with a single button: pressing sets the start time, releasing sets the end time, then moves to the next subtitle
Periodically backup subtitle files, configurable in the preferences
New features for video seeking and subtitle selection:

Video->Loop Selection - loop the video playback to the selected subtitles
Video->Seek to Selection - seek the video to the selected subtitle
Video->Select Nearest Subtitle - select the subtitle for the video position
Video->Auto Select Subtitle - auto select subtitles as the video is playing

Changes in the Timings Synchronize dialog:

Fixed a bug using the Synchronize All Subtitles option
Activating a sync point now seeks to its new time instead of the old one

Fixed a bug drag-and-dropping files with spaces in their path

Gnome Subtitles in Numbers from GNOME Subtitles News

Born more than 5 years ago, the project has come a long way. Some facts:

Its user interface is currently available in 27 languages.
The project's source tarballs have been downloaded about 22.000 times (distribution packages should account for way more downloads but no data is available).
The website shows an average of 230 visits/day.
The project's source code contains about 16.300 lines of code, produced in about 1.500 commits.
Users have reported a total of 256 bugs, of which about 40% are feature enhancements.
