Apertium is a machine translation platform, initially aimed at related-language pairs, but recently expanded to deal with more divergent language pairs (such as English-Catalan). The platform provides a language-independent machine translation engine, tools to manage the linguistic data necessary to build a machine translation system for a given language pair, and linguistic data for 21 language pairs, with more under development.

The platform also includes cell phone applications, blog plugins, web services and several graphical user interfaces. Apertium may translate plain text, web sites or documents without loss of formatting.

ChatSecure (Gibberbot) is a secure chat client capable of firewall and filter circumvention, surveillance blocking and end-to-end encryption. NoScript Anywhere (NSA) is the nickname for the next major iteration of the NoScript security add-on (NoScript 3.x), whose guts have been turned upside down in order to match Mozilla's Electrolysis multiprocessing architecture and implement a porting for Firefox Mobile, available on Android smartphones and tablets.

This is a simple open-source notepad app which demonstrates the capability of the SQLCipher for Android encrypted database library. All notes created and stored by this app are saved fully secured using industry standard 256-bit AES encryption. They are never stored in an unencrypted state on the disk, only in memory.

Description:

Google apps track users more than most other apps as they are system-apps and therefore have full rights on android.

There are several problems with avoiding Google apps:

You won't get regular updates for your apps. Google's apps are not bad in functionality, but are in privacy.

No access to Play Store (There are many alternative markets, but nothing is as good for free apps as Play Store) Meanwhile, F-Droid provides nearly everything you need.

Some apps do not install because of missing Google Maps API

Some apps Force Close at start-up because of missing Maps API or market license check issues

Some apps hard-coded links to several Google Apps and therefore Force Close or react unexpectedly on certain cases.
